The CPA Exam community & online study group to help you pass!
As I was going through the IT section of auditing, I had a question for myself and for other people if they want to answer. What made you interested in accounting and why did you choose it as a profession? I actually grew around computers and IT in general, so I've actually been very interested in that side of the field. I've enjoyed my IT and MIS related classes in school and thought they were very streamlined and informative. But, somewhere along the way, I thought going the accounting route would be the best bet for my future. I guess some of it was in fact job security. You pretty much always have a need for accountants and it's a function that can't be replaced easily. After taking my first accounting class, I didn't do too well haha, but I ended up enjoying it as a class. I think my ultimate goal is finding a career that has a mixture of IT and accounting; something like IT auditing. Having a career that contains a mixture of both of my interests would be the best option possible. Although I think passing the CPA exam will help me open up more opportunities, I think I have to be more proactive and definitely find a field that interests me in the end by looking for those opportunities as they open up. What are your thoughts? Thanks.
