Now or Later: To Rewrite or Not to Rewrite

My notes are a complete mess. Definition and keywords in margins, tiny  handwritten formulas and scratch outs as far as thee eye can see. Its a good thing I'm keeping them all in the same notebook or they probably would be thrown around my office/toddler playroom by now.

Part of my study plan was to watch the lectures take notes and review. I was going to rewrite my notes as part of my larger review when I was getting closer to my exam day. I've seen this technique written on many other blogs and forums with great success rates. But, I dont think this method is working for me.

Part of my weekly review involves me also reviewing the modules that I've already completed.  For example, I'm completing Module 11 this week and will do the recommended MCQ's in Wiley as per Yeager and take additional notes. I will then do the Gleim or Wiley  software review and do a cumulative review with questions from Mods 9, 10 and 11.  I use my notes to look for any formula or concept that I don't understand or missed  while working the problems. This technique is taking quite a bit longer because my notes are so messy.   I am really considering taking an hour or so before my weekend review to rewrite my notes for the week.  This way they will be organized by the time I do my  big cumulative review before the exam.

Any suggestions? Does this sound feasible?
