The CPA Exam community & online study group to help you pass!

For those of you who haven’t sat through Roger’s Audit Course, “TIPPICANOE” is his neumonic for the 10 Professional Auditing Standards.  This neumonic, and about 10 others from the Roger Course, are still resonating in my mind.   I’m looking forward to taking the rest of the month off from my studies and getting a much needed brain break.

I took the Audit test for the first time, and passed it, in November of 2009.   Taking the audit test at the end of February 2012, however,  was actually a different experience for me than when I took the test before.  This time, when I walked out of the test center, I was confident that I passed.  I can’t explain how great that felt!  The Roger Course prepared me for the test.  All I had to do was to put in the effort to learn the material that was presented. I was delighted to learn last Friday that not only did I pass, but I passed it with a strong score of 89.   Woo Hoo!

There’s been lots of celebrating at my house this week.  Friends and family who have almost forgotten what I look like, are also delighted that I am able to call, visit and just “hang out” like other normal people.  I can’t even begin to thank everyone who has continued to support me in this quest… my husband Michael, my kids, Lauren and Kevin, my  study buddy Tammy, and, of course, my mom and sisters, for listening to me whine.

I know, it sounds like I am making an academy awards speech….But, I appreciate the importance of passing each part, even though I still have one more part to go.  I can’t tell you how many times I have been asked, “So now are you finished?!

Each success brings me one step closer to my final goal.  Three CPA parts down, one to go.  It is taking me sooooooo long to do this!   I’ll go into the next test  knowing, rather than just hoping,  that I can pass it.   I’ve got the REG course materials at the ready…. but they are sitting in the bottom of my closet at the moment.  This month, I won’t be focusing on my studies.   I am waiting until April to start up again.   I’m excited that I will be traveling to New York for business next week.  I hope to see some of the sights while I’m  there.  It will be nice not having to pack all of my study materials with me!

For those of you who did not pass….  I have been there too.  I’ve looked at a 74 on my computer screen, at 5:00 am in the morning,  when the scores came out, and felt that horrible, sinking feeling that I disappointed myself and my loved ones.   It hurts.   It sucks. I know!

Take heart though.  As I said before, if it was easy, anyone would be able to do it. YOU are not just anyone! YOU decided to embark on this quest because it is important. YOU chose to do something incredibly difficult when there are easier career paths to take.  Take a few days.  Whine like I did.  Get it out…. Then move on and start again. Roger’s got some great tips for surviving the post exam disappointment.  Check out his video for inspiration.

Congratulations to all of you that passed!  Hope and thoughts of encouragement, to those of you who did not.

See you next week.
