I am currently studying for AUD again. I plan to take the exam on May 20th. (Edit: rescheduled for August 24th) I have paid for my notice to schedule and I will need to pay my fee once that comes and schedule the exam. I will also need to request time off work!

I had stopped studying for the exam after the end of November when I got a 68 on BEC. My only weakness in taking these exams is time. I do not have difficulty with any of the material (unless you count deferred taxes!) My issue is where do I find the time in a 24 hour day?! I have 5 kids and a full time job, so it is very difficult for me to study. Just last night my 17 year old was playing Brain Quest with my 10 year old and my 19 year old decided she was going to joke around with her and answer the questions before the 10 year old could. Needless to say they got rowdy during my study time. So I went to my room (which I don’t like to do because bedroom = SLEEP) and sat on my bed to read and take notes. Sure enough, after about 20 minutes I was dozing off. So I got up and drank some water to refresh myself and came back for another attempt. I made it another 30 minutes before I was really sleepy and decided to call it a night. This is why I like to study at the kitchen table from 8-10PM and my kids are usually off playing Minecraft or something so they don’t really bother me. But last night was not one of those nights.

Tonight I have a CPA dinner to attend from 5:30 to 9PM so I highly doubt I will be studying. On the 26th, month end begins at work and we have to stay later to close the month. So I will probably stay late the 26th, 29th, and 30th. Hopefully I will not be too tired to fit in at least one hour of study time when I get home. And HOPEFULLY (just a small prayer) my kids will PICK UP AFTER THEMSELVES and I won’t have too many chores awaiting me! :)

My children start an art class on Saturday. It is from 9-1PM, so I hope to drop them off and find a quiet Starbucks or fast food place to just utilize those hours to study! This will be great! Happy studying!

Thank you for the tip Niusha! I find that not every day is alike. Take today for example. I wake up at 5 AM, hit the snooze button! LOL :) Then I get up and exercise while watching CPA videos, hit the shower, get dressed, and head to work all before 7AM... On my lunch break I study, unless it is Friday, I go out to lunch on Friday. Tonight I have a CPA Dinner to attend for my local CPA Society. It will last until 9PM so I will not be able to study this evening... Tomorrow is a new day! I'm trying! :)

So, Yolanda, I was rereading your blog post.  Try this - track what you're doing in your 24 hour day for 3-6 days.  Trust me, you will find the time you need when you look over your log and then you will know what is realistic and you will get these exams studied for and done and you will pass!

Niusha is right ... You will all get through it!

Hi Niusha - The online classes haven't started yet. The materials have arrived, though. Just looking through the book, I'm getting nervous, 'cause there is so much information, but, too little time, in my opinion. On the contrary however, I feel, I can get too comfortable and be lazy, (if I take the time) that follows with the "P" word - called Procrastination. I have lot of things that I need to overcome like laziness, lack of focus & concentration etc. etc. very quickly. Plus, I need to get back to my daily workout. I'm sure if (and this is a big "if"), I do all this religiously, then, I can see 75 or above. Thanks for the motivation. Will share the updates, once the classes start. Happy studying! Hema

Yes, join hands, Hema!  We will all get through this exam window and come out of it either winners or smarter for next time.  Either way, it will be worth it.  Now, back to the books!  How do you like Becker?

Way to go. You are my inspiration. Lets get it done, one at a time :)-

Thanks Hema and Niusha! I have moved my exam to August 24th because I started a new job and was in training for a month. I am back at it studying away. I have been using the weekend AMs before my children are awake and I have been watching videos while on the treadmill in the AM during the week. Some days it's harder to get up than others, but persistence is the key! This exam is tough, but I will not let it defeat me!

Yolanda - Just now saw your post. Wow, I need to second Niusha H. You are determined. This is what I desperately need. And I applaud your perseverance. I have one teen-aged boy and yet I feel over whelmed, although, most of the times, I should say he is reasonably well-behaved - LOL. I haven't yet started by AUD (Becker online), and I'm already nervous. Can I say that you have already inspired me? Way to go! Keep it up. I will join hands with you and let us work together to cross 4 huge bridges ahead of us. Good Luck! Hema

I admire your persistence in trying different ways to achieve your goal.  It's difficult to study when kids are awake.  And, I know, nothing can put me to sleep faster than studying for an exam.  :P  What if you establish some "quiet time" rules after 8pm?  I'm sure that's a challenge with kids, but worth a shot.  It looks like you're really working on time management and being realistic with your study schedule by balancing work duties.  You can totally do this and pass, you just have to devote the time and make sure you can study more than 4 hours a week.  Roger from www.rogercpareview.com always says "If you study, you will pass."  What about going to bed early and studying before the rest of the family wakes up?  I'm curious to know what's worked for you.  Keep us posted.  How did AUD go?
