This is Tana's CPA Exam Journey...
Hi! My name is Tana. I graduated from the University of North Florida in August 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. By December 2012, I completed the Florida educational requirements to become a CPA. Now I just need the test and work experience to get my license in Florida.
I am married to a wonderful man who is active duty Navy and is currently deployed, meaning he will be gone for 6 months, making me a one parent household while he is away. We have two boys, one is almost 21 and the other is 5. The 21 year old quit his job to become my full time nanny. This is mainly because I have problems trusting people with my 5 year old. He is Globally Developmentally Delayed, meaning he is 5 years old but acts on 3 year old level. He is currently in speech, occupational, and physical therapy with the hopes that he will catch up with his peers. His brother is able to transport him to all his therapies, knows all his issues and they really love each other, so this is a win-win situation for everyone. I had my oldest move back in while my husband was deployed because I started an audit internship with a really nice, small, local CPA firm. I love it, even working 55+ hours a week. Having my oldest here, means I don’t have to figure out how to rush home from work to get to daycare before they close. Or that I can get up and get to the office at 5am, and no one else has to get out of bed.
I decided to take an online CPA course because it offers the flexibility that I am going to need to succeed in completing this exam. While I do not have the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch that is available to use with the online course, this course will allow me access to the materials anytime I am able to study and have access to the internet. This flexibility will allow me to work, study the CPA exam, and still have family time. I don’t think I would be able to have that balance with in-class review course. I am very excited to use Roger CPA Review System, as a friend of mine used it successfully with AUD, and I am starting with that section. I will be blogging all about my entire CPA journey here.
