Scared or Lazy?: Need to Get it Together

It so incredibly sad that I can't pull my sh*t together to pass this exam. Am I scared of something or just lazy?

I have the materials, the support (thanks #twudygroup) and I can make the time. Its like I have more excuses than motivation at this point.

At first I really NEEDED a new job. I recently accepted great position in the field I really wanted to a career in. Part of the conditions of accepting the offer was to get either the CPA or CIA designation within 18 months of being hired. I now have a deadline but absolutely no drive.

And, I am really tired of studying the same thing over and over again because I've stop and started so many times. There is no perfect situation or time for anything, I really just need to get my sh*t together, study and pass.

Setting up the test date before I started studying made a difference for me.  I knew that I needed to be ready by that date, so it would drive me.  Of course there were times that I wasn't very interested in the material, but I kept thinking about exam day.  I needed to know the material without any help so that drove me to continue studying when I would feel unmotivated.  You never know when you'll get your second wind.

Hi Gina!  Congrats on the job and having the tools/support.  This post by Natalia really resonated with me about the same dilemma you posted here.  Check it out:

Hi Gina,

I understand where you're coming from. Many times it's difficult to simply get the drive to discipline yourself and get your studying done. Something you can try is Fast Forward Academy's Free Study Planner. It's a new tool we developed to keep you up to date with your CPA exam prep. You simply click on your start and end dates, along with what you want to study, and the Planner sets up a schedule for you. It comes along with the free trial on the site, so try it out, and see if helps you out at all. Here's a shortened link to the site - http://goo.gl/AhyRX. If you have any questions, we're open from 9am - 5pm EST, Monday through Friday, so feel free to give us a call if you have any questions. We know it can be difficult, but we'll be happy to help you in any way we can.
