Studying for Audit: Again

I am currently studying for AUD again. I plan to take the exam on May 20th. (Edit: rescheduled for August 24th) I have paid for my notice to schedule and I will need to pay my fee once that comes and schedule the exam. I will also need to request time off work!

I had stopped studying for the exam after the end of November when I got a 68 on BEC. My only weakness in taking these exams is time. I do not have difficulty with any of the material (unless you count deferred…

How Can I Steer Clear of Distractions and Focus?

Dear Lifehacker,

I need a little help focusing. I know part of it is just a lack of discipline, but I can't help but kill time on sites like Facebook and even Lifehacker during the day when I should be working and getting things done. You guys post lots of great productivity tips, but how do I get myself focused and away from distractions enough to put them to…

Cold Feet

I find myself procrastinating or feeling unsure if I really want to take the Exam.  I can easily afford the fees, and have the time to study (not working).  But I feel like after I pay them, I might change my mind and not want to take it at all.  I would hate to lose the money (by not taking it or having a halfhearted attempt and failing) even though it's nothing for me.  So I guess I have cold feet.  Any thoughts?  Should I just schedule it and see what happens? -…

Face Difficulties Positively

Posted in Motivation Group by Divya Govil

nice motivational story I came across:

This parable is told of a farmer who owned an old mule. The mule fell into the farmer’s well. The farmer heard the mule praying or whatever mules do when they fall into wells. After carefully assessing the situation, the farmer sympathized with the mule, but decided that neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving. Instead, he called his…

3 Unconventional Ways to Change Your Life this Year

Photo: Pick the Brain

"Everyone wakes up on January 1 with a gut full of ambition and good intentions. The idea of a clean slate is invigorating! By the middle of the month, however, most people have already started the slide back to their regular existence, overcome by trying to reach lofty, unclear goals with the same mindset from the…

How Things Change

After a month and a half of studying, or 45 hours of Yeager videos and an additional 10 hours or more of reading plus problems – I was let go from my job. Well let go is a nice way of saying I was fired after 3 years of work. Now you’re probably thinking getting fired means I probably did something bad like steal from the company or I wasn’t very good at my job, or maybe I was studying during working hours. Well none of those applied to me. I was actually fired because I was miserable, I…

CPA Success in a Word

What's in a word?  Well, according to a notable psychologist at Stanford University a word may weigh heavily on how we shape our thoughts. Lera Boroditsky has been "intrigued by an age-old question whose modern form dates to 1956, when linguist Benjamin Lee Whorf asked whether the language we speak shapes the way we think and see the world.  If so, then language is not merely a means of expressing thought, but a constraint on it, too."  (Source:…

Submitting to Stupid Rules

Source - (My Blog)

As I walked down towards home one day, I heard someone calling my name. I turned back to see who was there. It was an

old friend of mine walking briskly towards me. He had a heavy bag on

his back. "Relax. What are you doing out here at this time? Its…

The CPA Exam Can Be Like a Triathlon

via "Check out that picture. Yes, it’s me. And yes, I finished a triathlon. OK, it was a sprint distance, not an Ironman, but still it was a 400-yard (16-pool-lengths) swim in Lake Michigan, an 18-mile bike ride followed by a 3.1 mile run. And yes, look at me. I am overweight. More than that, I am fat! But I finished. I was DFL…Dead Freaking Last. But DFL is not DNF (Did Not… Continue

Get motivated.. Get it done.. Act NOW

The purpose of this topic of discussion is to get motivated by sharing quotes, stories, or personal experience that tell all candidates that if they're struggling with the CPA exam, they're not alone.

I believe that the Thomas Edison quote “Success is 10 percent inspiration and 90 percent perspiration" is very relevant to the CPA Exam taking process. I have never found myself being too-dumb to pass the Exam. I've always left the testing center kicking myself for not working… Continue
