The CPA Exam community & online study group to help you pass!
I have come around to telling myself that I will pass and that I will score in the 80s. I'm realistic and not getting down on my old over-achiever persona that would rock out a 95 to 100 on an exam because now I have other responsibilities and obligations that are dear to me.
Now that I've begun to say this, I am trying to keep a positive attitude and talk about my joys. I actually look forward to waking up at 4am every morning to get 3 hours of quiet study time in. I never…Continue
I am happy to say that I have kept to my study guide. I built in an "catch up day" each week and used it not just to catch up, but for down time as well. I was able to get to bed at 8pm instead of 2am one night. That was such a great night. I am really excited that I will have 4 days to spend just on MC/TBS and review of material marked that I am weak.
I did give up on writing notes on every chapter. I was spending over an hour, and all I was doing was copying the information from…Continue

Things seem to be going better this time around. Today, I scheduled REG (Feb 7th), and BEC (Feb 28). Some other things have come up in my life, but I am going to use them to focus myself and not let them distract me from my studies.
I am following Roger Phillipp (Roger CPA Review) advice. I am doing all the homework twice before I move onto the next section, and completing the TBS. It seems like it is easier for…Continue
I had to have some time to refocus and regroup my life. I did not pass REG and it crushed me. I did the suggested studying. Scored high on the homework and thought I down when I walked in the test center, but as my last blog shows, I didn't know how I did after the test. When the results came out, I was devastated. I didn't even make a 70, what was up with that.
So, on the advise of my husband, I took a break to evaluate what was going on, and how I can pass and become a…Continue

It really has been a long time since I have posted. I didn't pass Far, but that didn't keep me down. Even before the grades came out I started studying for REG.
I just finished Roger CPA for REG and have done the homework twice, although I haven't done the TBS yet. I saved them for last. My test is scheduled for Friday, so I still have 3 full days (and what is left of today) to study.

I was hoping to already be done watching the FAR section of Roger's lectures, but life got in the way. I was planning on watching and taking notes on all the lectures then go back and watch them again when I get a back home to my study materials.
But as we all know, great plans will be defeated, if you do not able to commit to them, and I cannot right now. Life throws curve balls and you have to be able deal with…Continue

It has been a while since I have posted. I took a break from studying and went on vacation. I have since been indefinitely delayed in my return to home, due to a sick family member in Alabama.
I have decided to try and study while here. I am glad I am using Roger, because I can study anywhere there is…Continue

I cannot believe that my score took so long to post on NASBA. I kept checking all morning, but I had to leave for an appointment at 10:45 am. I was able to check e-mail but not check NASBA for the score until after 7 pm. I was home before that, but wanted to eat, because if I didn’t pass, I knew I wouldn’t eat for a while. After dinner, I checked my score and …… I passed.
My score was lower than expected. I thought it would have been in the 90’s, but as long as it was 75 or…Continue

I woke up at 4:00 am to study for the CPA Exam. I got my coffee and was on the way to my desk when I ran into my son. He did not want to go back to sleep, so I did not get any time in before I sent him off to school. I still had plenty of time to get ready and prepare for the test at 1:30.
I was extremely nervous, but felt prepared. I used Roger CPA review software in test mode for the entire thing and scored an 85%. That decreased the nervousness. I looked at my weak areas and…Continue
The last two days have gone way to fast. I am feeling a mixture of emotions ranging from excited to terrified. I have done everything that I had scheduled in preparation of the CPA exam, but (as always) would like a few extra hours to dedicate to TBS questions. Otherwise I am feeling pretty good about how prepared I am for the CPA test. Yesterday was another issue.
Yesterday, I could not answer any of the multiple choice questions correctly, I was second guessing myself on…Continue

The countdown has started. I have 2 days before my CPA test. I am a little concerned that I am too calm. I am not in a panic or frantically trying to cram everything in. I believe it is because I stayed on top of my schedule and know where I am in the schedule at all times.
If you recall I was behind by 12 hours the last time I blogged with 7 study days left. I am now ahead of my schedule. I was able to employ the help of family to watch my son, so that I could get that extra…Continue

Wow, has it been a month since my last post already?! Time sure has flown... I better start my 2012 Christmas list soon! ;)
So as the title indicates, I expect to break the 100-hour studying mark for FAR tonight. My FAR exam is officially scheduled for Monday, Feb 27th at 9:00AM (wish me luck!). I have mostly stuck to the studying plan outlined in previous posts, with some very minor variations. I began my studies on Saturday, January 7th, so it has been exactly…Continue
One of the biggest factors to standardized testing that most seem to overlook is the simple fact that these standardized exams are, in fact, standardized. That is, the exam is nationally or globally administered; it is the same across the whole country, or sometimes, across the whole world. Given this fact, you should consider that all of the major review packages for said exam will cover essentially the same material. Some may cover…Continue

Late last week and into this past weekend I played some email tag with Bonni and Sonny over at Yaeger CPA Review. Sonny advised me that the recommended order of exams is F A R B, and that students will, on average, study for the following number of hours per section:…
The CPA Exam is a big step for many of us in our professional careers, and as such it can be a highly stressful (albeit very rewarding!) process. If you are struggling with a section, know that thousands of other aspiring CPAs are going through the same process with you each year, and there is a community here…Continue
