Pavlov's Dog and the CPA Exam

Remember Pavlov’s dog? Ivan Pavlov, a Russian physiologist who studied classical conditioning, trained a dog to salivate when hearing the sound of a bell. This response came after repeatedly giving the dog food immediately after ringing a bell.

The point I’d like to make today is that we often operate the same way. Certain activities elicit certain responses if we train ourselves…

"Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude."

Hi my name is Samantha and I've been using Yaeger CPA review since September 2011. Its been a hard long road since this summer when I sent out my NTS. It's partly my fault for never really understanding the rules of the NTS, but I'm upset all my college classes and accounting club missed this topic as well. I thought that by picking all four tests at once meant that I was allowed to pick and schedule when I wanted to, but I was so wrong. I never planned on starting a test till the end of… Continue

Planning The Exam: How Long Should I Study?

Late last week and into this past weekend I played some email tag with Bonni and Sonny over at Yaeger CPA Review.  Sonny advised me that the recommended order of exams is F A R B, and that students will, on average, study for the following number of hours per section:…

Can I Really?

Can I really pass 3 parts of the CPA exam before May 1st 2012? What happens on May 1st, 2012 you may credit for Audit expires.  It took me 4 attempts to pass the audit portion of the CPA exam and I really don't want to retake it.

I remember when I received the score back in late November of 2010. I thought I had plenty of time to get the other 3 parts passed. While I sat for REG and BEC in 2011, I got no passing scores. I came in close on REG and BEC with 70's, but no…

MUST READ FROM AICPA: New Score Release Timeline for the CPA Exam

"Starting in the fourth quarter of 2011 the U.S. CPA Exam will begin releasing scores earlier and more predictably. Initially this may not seem very interesting; however, the change will mark a major shift in the U.S. CPA Exam experience and the strategies that prospective CPAs employ as they work toward passing the exam.  ith the transition from a pencil and paper exam to the computerized format in 2004, came a shift in the strategies and expectation of CPA…

Waiting for BEC results.

I sat for the BEC section of the EXAM on May 30.  I was excited to have finished and felt good about finally taking on part of the monster!   I had heard from others who have gone before me how difficult the EXAM is, so I expected the test to be hard.  What I did not expect was for the waiting to be so difficult!  Three weeks from the test date and I find myself checking for score postings several times a day.  (I am not yet ready to admit to hourly checks)

I am a mature…
