Why Not B.A.R.F (The order to take the CPA Exams)

One question many CPA candidates tend to ask concerns what order to take the exams. The old adage was B.A.R.F. and not just because it makes a fun acronym. The idea was that a candidate would start with the “easiest” test first and work their way up. The general belief was that BEC was the easiest then AUD, REG and FAR. The…

6/10/14 Week Nine: CPA Exam- Change in attitude

Saturday morning 7:30a.m. I awoke to a text from a fellow CPA exam taker with “I received my score and didn’t pass.” Immediately I thought do I look? Do I not look? I looked… I wished I hadn’t and just waited until Monday. Why? Yes you guessed it, I too did not pass. I allowed myself exactly one hour to sulk and feel embarrassed, then spent the rest of the day forgetting I had checked it. I told a few close friends I had not passed over the weekend and they all asked me what is my game plan?…

Assurance Levels Provided

Can someone please help me with assurance levels provided? I think I have it correct for Audits (positive), Compilations (none), Review (limited), Comfort letters (negative) and agreed on procedures (none) but what is the assurance level provided for a compliance audit? Since it is considered an audit is it positive as well? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Would I be fine if I studied the 2012 material for AUD?

Hello Friends,

I have quick question regarding: I have becker's review books for 2012 AUD.

And I remember I saw, somewhere on a website that there was a list of the changes are for the clarified standards..

Would I be fine, to just study the 2012 material that I have, and try to find the clarified standard, and study off that? And plan to take AUD in Feb 2014

Slow Start with Audit

It's been about 2 weeks now since I received my results on my last exam, FAR.  With the good news I began to study for Audit.  The first night went okay, I didn't really feel great about it but figured I just needed to get back into my groove.  But as the next week passed things were going from bad to worse.  Every time I attempted to read the text I'd doze off, shake myself awake and try again....still, something just wasn't working.  Nothing was clicking; it's difficult to explain but it…

Studying for Audit: Again

I am currently studying for AUD again. I plan to take the exam on May 20th. (Edit: rescheduled for August 24th) I have paid for my notice to schedule and I will need to pay my fee once that comes and schedule the exam. I will also need to request time off work!

I had stopped studying for the exam after the end of November when I got a 68 on BEC. My only weakness in taking these exams is time. I do not have difficulty with any of the material (unless you count deferred…

YES: NTS Received!

Wow, I remember another blogger saying how she was actually excited to get her NTS.. and now that I finally have mine (first applied on 2/27), I feel the exact same way.  That's definitely a load of stress off my back.  I have 2 sections on this NTS (AUD and FAR) and will get BEC and REG a bit later on.  Just didn't want to schedule all 4 exams in one NTS and…

Supplementary material for the CPA Exam.

Hello everyone.

Well, I'm studying for the Auditing section (in the Internal control section right now with all the different types of cycles)  I only have 1 section bought so far, which is the Auditing Section from RogerCPA.  I know it might be a bit more expensive in the long run, but I really wasn't sure what course to buy, so I settled with a section for Roger and I'll see how it goes.  My question is.. does anyone use any (maybe relatively cheap) supplementary material to study?…

Which order would be the most optimal for me? | Bryan's CPA Exam Journey

Hey guys.

Almost 10 days into studying for my first section (AUD) and I just thought about something.  I really have no idea which order i'll be taking these sections haha.  I decided to take Auditing first because of the changes that will happen to the section after June.  I figure I can get that over with before the changes take place and any new material gets tested.  I still actually have no idea when i'm going to actually take the exam because I'm waiting for my NTS, but my…

Studying for my first section - 1 week later | Bryan's CPA Exam Journey

Hey everyone.

Well, I've started studying for the first section i'm going to take (Auditing) and it's been a week now.  Still haven't received my NTS, so hopefully that goes through without any hitches because i'm dying to schedule this exam so I can properly assess how much time I have left and what I should focus on the most.  First week mostly went without any hitches.  I really need to zero in and focus a lot more on the material in hand.  It's very easy to get distracted…

Passed Audit! | Ben's CPA Exam Journey

Got my AUD score report today- 87!  Extremely pumped, and twice as excited because I thought I was gonna find out tomorrow, so it was an awesome surprise!  Crazy nervous opening that pdf in the email though D:  Now I'm on to my second section, BEC, which I'm hoping I'll be ready for by the beginning of April because I want to fit in REG at the end of May so I have my summer before I start work to chip away at the behemoth that is FAR!

Two days before REG | Tana's CPA Exam Journey

I am working on very little sleep, but I feel pretty good about my studying.

I have been listening to Roger CPA Lectures on my weak areas on my 30 min drive to and from work and completed all the homework twice, including TBS.

Something new this time is I wrote my own notes from the REG text book that goes with Roger lecture. I am going to spend time before and after work to work in the software and I will have all day Thursday (until test time) to work the software as well.…
