I took this failure HARD. It took me longer to get back to studying than it normally does. I was SO CLOSE. But I finally got back on track. I waited for my score to come out to determine if I was going to re-study for BEC or start studying FAR.
Although I'm not a superstitious person by nature I do tend to look for "signs" to sort of guage whether I'm on the right path or not. I think to some extent we all do it in one fashion or another. My sister, well she's a little extreme in her need for external answers, often seeking out the assistance of psychic's. I laugh (but quietly) when she…Continue
I asked myself this question many times. Some of my peers who pass the CPA exam told me I should try to study first for the part that would be more difficult for me. Others told me I should study the part that I think I have more experience on and will be easier to study. Even though there is no right answer to this question something that is clear is that each individual is different for this reason its better that you study what you think will work…Continue
I decided to create a post because I was thinking to myself how I wish life came with warning signs like the roadway. Going up that mountain and enjoying the beauty, we sometimes forget that we have to come down. Thanks for those signs that tell the grade of the road and where we can go if we lose control of our car. I feel now that I am too focused on my destination that I don't notice the signs ahead such as "slow down!!" or "road crossing ahead!!". Qualifying now to take my CPA exam in my…Continue
Yip…It can happen. You study for months and on the day of the exam you forget something. Just as studying for the exam is very important…so is the big day!! Things that you should do to reduce stress on the exam day:

I’ve envisioned a great life after the CPA Exam and that’s why I am giving it my all. I really want my life back. Simple pleasures like reading a non cpa book…or watching tv without feeling guilty…Oh how I miss those days. My CPA bucket list consists of:

Hey guys. I finally figured out my CPA schedule and the dates I want to take my exams. Have a look!
One of the best things you can do as a CPA candidate is to schedule and plan ahead of time. This is definitely very important as it gives you goals and specific targets to reach, as opposed to just studying and ending up cramming the…Continue
Choosing which sequence you’ll take the cpa exam is usually based on different motives for each individual. My reason for taking REG 1st is because I have the 2012 material for it and I’m hoping nothing much has changed. Other reasons may include the cost of the exam or practical experience/confidence in a particular area.
As my blog suggests, not everyone takes the exam in the same order and you’re not required to…there are however a few suggestions out there… so don’t…Continue

My name is Timothy Petty, but everyone calls me Tim. On August 11th, my wife and I will celebrate six years of marriage. My wife is currently three months pregnant and we had our first ultrasound on Monday. It was amazing to see our baby kicking and moving around. I graduated with my Bachelor's in April 2006 and earned my MBA in August of 2010. I am currently working as an accountant for regional public transit company for the City of Detroit. I have over four…Continue

Today I decided to squeeze in some study time during my lunch hour. I began by watching a video on FASB Standards (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLNPUDUWkSg&list=PLAF87E4335AFBFB90). Within a few moments I had to pause it, “what?!.......new codification…. hu? Oh my gosh, have I…Continue
My CPA Exam Journey
It all began in 2008. I was right out of college, and had accepted my first full time job as a tax accountant. I purchased Becker CPA right out of school. Before I knew it, it had set on my shelf for a year, and had expired. I had wasted one year due to procrastination. Within this time period I had studied very little. My Becker program had expired after one year. I had spent $3100, and it was all gone. I ended up buying Bisk, which I got the entire program…
So you arrive to the SIMS and WC and freak the you know what out. Well go ahead and have your freak out moment. However, do gather yourself and go through the SIMS and WC thoroughly and one by one. Focus all of your attention on the SIM/WC you’re working on. Personally, I like to do the ones I find easiest first and move on to the hardest ones.
Also, make sure to have practiced good time management in order to give yourself enough time to answer them. The research tab ((not…Continue

So you come out of the testing center feeling supremely confident but then fail. What went wrong? Well maybe you felt good about answer choices that were in fact wrong. Perhaps many of your correct choices were thrown out due to pre-test questions. Another possibility is that questions you got wrong were worth more than those that you got correct even if you answered more questions correctly. It could be a combination of the above reasons and maybe others.
Should you have…Continue

Create my own notes for the major topics of each section
Review an entire module for no more than a week and do questions on it a week later. In the proceeding weeks, review the most difficult part of the prior’s week material and review a new module. Include in the review the reasons why I got wrong answers.
In the final week, briefly review the areas I’m strong in and concentrate on reviewing and doing questions on the most difficult areas.
So basically my strategy is…Continue

Hi, I am still studying for the CPA exam, AUD is a killer. Hope to pass it in the next window. Still haven't found a formula for studying for AUD, so it's back to memorizing, memorizing, and more memorizing (not going well so far).

I am a stay-at-home mom and started my CPA journey from January 2013. My 2013 resolution is to pass the 4 great exams in CPA. I am a M.B.A holder from Accredited University. My CPA journey starts with the approval of CBA (California Board of Accountancy) on the first week of December 2012.
I really need to take vacation before starting my wonderful CPA journey. So, I utilized the last blackout month of 2012 (December) for my vacation. I started FAR right…
Taking FAR in May and need alot of motivation and tips..
Whoever passed examed, I have to say it was not an easy journey and people who are struggling to get study time nows well on amount of hard work required to study and pass a course. I have started studying many times in past 1 year and failed within weeks of attempt. I have to sef talk and restart and stick with my plan. Wish me good luck for this round...
