I could see you leave in Toronto which is where I reside too.
Honestly speaking, FAR is not difficult but very challenging because of the huge quantity of information involved. The only topics which I feel might be most challenging to grab is the pension and bonds.
The key is consistency. Once you start, never leave studying for long because you start to forget what you have read and solving questions over and over is equally important because you will understand the way questions are set. Over 90% of the CPA questions looked straightforward but not. I solved the questions for atleast three times before exam.
I also listened to the lectures regularly and with this method, I was able to grab some of the concepts without having to study those that I grabbed while listening to the lectures.
To retain all of those information on your head I would recommend you lay your hands on the flashcards. This will also help to distinguish GAAP from IFRS.
